Lord's Prayer Competition

Where have you prayed the Lord's Prayer at midday?  We're looking for people to post the most interesting places they have prayed it and any stories of how you have connected with God or others through doing this on the blog.  The person who prays it in the most unusual place and posts this by the end of March will win a prize of their choice of a book on prayer from the Christian Resources Bookshop.

I prayed the Lord's Prayer last week in the Swiss city of Basel, during an architecture field trip there. I was with a small group of architecture students and we were making our way to the high street's macdonald's, famished from the long day of architecture-tourism.
For no apparent reason I decided to go through the Lord's prayer in my head, pondering each sentence. I thoroughly enjoyed it, made me mindful of what a brilliant example Jesus is to us and, surprisingly, dissuaded my fury when I found out the price for a Swiss macMeal.

I suppose I have a bit of an unfair advantage as I have just come back from the Far East but I can claim to have prayed the Lord's prayer at Angkor Wat in Cambodia (the largest temple site in the world) and at the site of the Cui Chi Tunnels used by the Vietcong in Vietnam. Both countries are mainly Buddhist and/or animist - they are in desperate need of Christian missionaries. In Cambodia less than 1.3% of the population are Christian (mainly Catholic) and in Vietnam the figure is about 8%. Interestingly the evangelical church there numbers about 1 million people and is growing!

It seemed very appropriate to be praying the Lord's prayer - especially the words 'thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven'
