Treasures in Heaven

Richard and I have enjoyed a wonderful week in Spain, but in the early hours on Saturday morning we had a phone call from Libby to say that our house has been burgled and trashed, Richard and I prayed that Vicky and the dog would be ok, and the following bible passage came to mind from Matthew 6:19-21 :

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
The passage, from Philippians 4:6-7 that we looked at yesterday in Church, is one of my favourites and one I use it a lot:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus".
So praise God, the only thing they broke was our window and they stole a few trinkets, the house is now amazingly back to normal. We where thankful that know one was hurt, Praise and Worship is so important in all situations, and I always imagined that it would be terrible to be burgled, but forgiveness and the peace  that I feel, can only come from God.
