Jacob's dream and the presence of God

After the service this morning, several people were interested in the song I talked about, and which Nick sang, ‘God of the moon and stars’ by Paul Field. Here’s a very good version of the song:

I was so thankful for Nick’s version of this, and to Paul Field, the writer, because the song enabled me to see a fresh vision of God’s wide love, and to connect to God in a very valuable way. I do believe God’s love extends as widely as this song implies.

God's Love For A Man on the Floor

Me and fellow student Lee Brannan spotted an unconscious man lying on the floor looking almost motionless. We were really concerned and felt we should see if he was ok and whether we could help. He wasn't responding much but when we talked to him he tried to move. Lee and I continued to talk to him for a bit as he was beginning to wake up. Lee went to get the man some water whilst I asked him how he got here. After sharing a bit of his story (he has a broken family and doesn't have great communication with his son) He started to repeat the words "I feel bad". As well as his depression, he was also in pain. So when Lee got back we decided to pray for him that he sees God, knows that he is forgiven by God, for the pain to go away and for his family situation.

Meditation on Psalm 77

Stuck at home with the most irritating cough, I was thinking about the passage today and thought I would share my thoughts with whoever reads this blog! I hope it helps anyone who is feeling overcome by problems. I read the New King James version so the words might have a different slant if you’re used to NIV.

Trust and Hope

Over the last few months there has been a lot of doing, family and work wise presenting much challenge  but I hope opportunity for God's word, purpose in action. Not unusual for any Christian you may be  rightly thinking, I know, but it's been intense.

Waiting

"It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord" (Lam 3:26).

I have been battling a recurring infection for some time now. I really expected to be healed immediately, but instead I got worse. I have learned not so much to believe for my healing, but believe in the Healer.

Jesus washing his disciples' feet: a tale of Hils and her verruca

Hi all,

This week's Breathe readings take us to John 13, where Jesus washes his disciples' feet. A passage we all know.... Or do we? Recently I have been wondering what it means to follow Jesus' command and wash each others feet.

I think what comes to most people's mind is the term "service". We are called to serve our brothers and sisters. But I have come to realise that it is something much deeper than that.
