God's Love For A Man on the Floor

Me and fellow student Lee Brannan spotted an unconscious man lying on the floor looking almost motionless. We were really concerned and felt we should see if he was ok and whether we could help. He wasn't responding much but when we talked to him he tried to move. Lee and I continued to talk to him for a bit as he was beginning to wake up. Lee went to get the man some water whilst I asked him how he got here. After sharing a bit of his story (he has a broken family and doesn't have great communication with his son) He started to repeat the words "I feel bad". As well as his depression, he was also in pain. So when Lee got back we decided to pray for him that he sees God, knows that he is forgiven by God, for the pain to go away and for his family situation.

He immediately perked up a lot and started to talk about beating his addiction and how much he loves his son! This was really great stuff but he then switched back, and started to say thing like "I just want to end it", "I've died 3 times because of this and  I probably won't come back next time". At that point he drank a bit more sadly. We then began to remind him about his son and then about God's Fatherly love, telling him that God saved him three times because he loved him. He replied "I know God  loves me but I want to end this". He also told us that he may have a year left to live if he keeps this up. We reassured him and reminded him of what he was hoping for again which brought him some peace.

We then had to call an ambulance as he was going to lose consciousness. Then a few people helped us to get him in the recovery position and he was on his way to hospital. He was really thankful and has a bit more hope for his situation now. I am sharing this because God really moved through us when we prayed, rousing this man and getting him to hope in what seems like a hopeless situation.

I think we should keep praying for this man and his situation as he's wrestling between loving his family and alcohol. Be thankful for how much he loves his son. Pray for him in his addiction (he has tried to quit many times alone), for him to see God's love and protection this year and for him to finish well/start to live a life of hope, leading to purity. A phrase comes to mind "If Jesus could save one of us in his death and resurrection, he would do it".

Thanks, Christian.
