Meaning out of Meaningless

Over the last few weeks I have been asking for God's help for clarity (mind), passion (heart) and capacity (strength) regarding family and work issues present and future.

In prayer I felt directed to Ecclesiastes. I found much answer despite the opener by the Teacher...."Everything is meaningless" and  laughed with the line, a miserable business!

The help came from chapter 3..a time for everything in lots of the verses, in v12 nothing better than to be happy and do good, eat drink find satisfaction in all toil..this is a gift of God.

In "Go eat food with gladness, drink wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favours what you do", this seemed even more appropriate after enjoying the Christmas event on Saturday, where it seemed there was much of God's favour, love and fun in what both Christian and non were sharing together; simply having a ball! Please pass on grateful thanks to all concerned for this.

We can not chase the wind, but if take precious time still enough from all the doing we can feel its touch, sense the direction to bring meaning and peace in it..then strengthened for a bit more.

Finally, after the Daniel series, Ecclesiastes chapter 12 conclusion of the matter, seemed so linked and very affirming too. Thanks and praise for all that is given in the word and spirit of the best teacher ever..., for the reminder when I forget, ...that which gives meaning to the' whole duty of man', given by the good and one Shepherd.

Sure to renew meaning and hope.

Happy Christmas,
Ann W

Ann,
Thanks for posting, I found this very encouraging. I have been thinking about making a work-related decision recently, and I found Ecclesiastes 3:22 to be particularly helpful about putting things into context.
